OK now, i do love my ceriatone and will love it more after pickmasters TR CR clean mods are done (this week) and ............................ last week in a moment of weakness I bought a Two Rock Gainmaster 35. So I really loved some of the tones and was kinda thinkin that it might replace my ceriatone (blasphemy). But after having it for a week, and really workin the settings, I couldnt get it to sound as good as my ceriatone! Supposedly it has the same basic circuit as the Ts-1, the full on dumble two rock, but the creamy, cello like musical overdrive just wasnt in it no matter what I did. In all honesty the cleans were better but after the aforementioned mods,  my OTS will be killer!

So I gave it back!!

Now in fairness it was still an awesome amp but in no way was it going to replace my OTS! Not on its best day!

My local Two Rock dealer is getting a Ts-1 for another customer and im really keen to play it against my OTS, i'll keep you posted................

The only 22-35 watt range to ever impress me (YouTube Clips) is one Jet and one Studio Pro 35.

And with my OTS 50 now 50% modded to Pickmaster's TR Clean spec, I made a video and I can roughly compare now with my fave YouTube Clips and I can say I can definitely hang with the Two Rocks especially most Studio Pro's in terms of how your listeners perceive the tone. I've yet to play a TR so can't comment on response and overall feel.

My demo;

Here's the SP 35 vid I liked (It sounds very responsive to his right hand I think);

Hey Hurtwood,

Let us know how the OTS FM sound after the mods, and how much of a difference it's made. You running a clator?

I'm heading towards the same direction as you with a FM, but just getting the finances together before I make the purchase

Hey stratultra the mods are being done later this week. and yes im running a clator. Ive neber been totally happy with the cleans from the FM ME, not glassy fendery enough for me, a little too much growl in them so hopefully this will sort that out.

Really nice demo!! I'll be happy if my amp sounds like this after the mods Smiley Nice version of payphone, too.

I'm glad you liked it.  Grin

These amps are really interesting to record. So far I can see what others say that they record nice. The difference is sort of like the sound became marshmallows when recorded.

I've actually been put in a situation to make a purchase on a two rock onyx for cheap vs. a modded FM ME built by Nik.... The TW is almost twice the amount so it's a tricky one for me....

There is a few of us Aussies on the forum!
