...real leather and a g12-65 speaker.

Looks very very nice
Wha's the sound like with the G65-12 (I have a cab with but no amp yet). Do you have the latest amp layout?

Well, I just started playing this amp with 65 speaker... up to now, I was using my Greenback cab. My amp is still stock (first layout), didn't wanted to touch anything 'cause I didn't know how the cab will sounds like.
Maybe later on, I will decide to mod the amp.

Yes I am... cab does not sound boxy or anything like that.

Thanks guys

took me a few months to find the material and the right people for the job. For example the tolex/leather thing, I took the amp to a pro who does car interior for living. Those stitches are way cool don't you think so?  ;)
... on the end it was worth it.

Beautiful job! Just something cool about having your sound all in one box...

Did you you build this cab yourself?  I have an overtone without a cab and I am looking for someone to build me a head cab for it.  If anyone knows of anyone, let me know.  The stock cabs that Nik has just don't appeal to me.

I had a lot of help from my carpenter friend. And leather was a done by a pro, like I said in a couple of posts above.

Maybe this can help you a little....

That`s a great looking amp mate..!
Was it inspired by Robben Ford`s combo, as it looks very similar to his one that`s green & tan..?  Could you supply the weight..? Cheers.

Thanks for a great post and for sharing the dimensions. That's exactly what I am looking to get into when I am done. FYI, the grille cloth looks a bit loose, maybe hit it with a hairdryer again to shrink it back up? Awesome combo. Really nice.

Thanks,

That design is pretty common for D style combo amps.
The color choice.... well it all started with the fact that I had some grill left over... from my champ amp. I thought Fender Brown Face style is coll, so I thought I should try to build something similar. I just went for a little darker brown for more contrast.
I didn't weigh it but when I do, I'll let you know.

It looks that way on that photo but in fact you can't see it in person. It must be the shadows.
I didn't even use hairdryer... maybe I should and see what happens.
Thanks for the tip.

I've had good success using the hot air gun to tighten grille cloth, but you sould dampen it first with a fine mist spray (don't overdo it!!!) or a damp cloth (safer, but you might need to do it twice).

Mmmm nice.... You're giving me ideas now. (I've got a spare set of Fender tilt back legs and I think I'd like to do one in Cream Tolex).

Wow.
Those are both very nice cabs.
I am waiting on my ODS head to arrive and was wondering how you guys like the sound from the combo?

I know with some cabs, builders choose a certain type of wood to effect the outcome of the resonance/tone of the cab. How important is the wood choice in this type of combo cab?

Did you use Birch, Pine,  or a combination of woods?

Mine is made from Birch plywood. I just decided to go with plywood 'cause it's proven material and it's tough enough to protect my precious.

I still didn't weigh it...   :P

It is heavy but not as heavy as Twin  :D,  I like the portability of the amp. Just grab amp in one hand, guitar in the other and off you go. (I do however have a pedalboard as well. So with pedalboard softbag over my shoulder, amp and guitar  :-[,

I need to start using gym more.
