Title: Rocktron Xpression Update Post by: Steven_nl on October 25, 2008, 11:12:07 AM Hi Guys
I have a TC Electronic G-Sharp. Sounds pretty good, but you can't set the volume level of individual presets. I use this to change from rythm to lead sounds. I decided to order a Rocktron Xpression. It has an internal parallel routing (mixer). So your direct sginal doesn't go through an A/D converter, but stays analog straight to the output. Only the effect passes through the processing. Any expereriences with this or comparable (Intellifex) units? Cheers Steven Title: Re: Rocktron Xpression Post by: bluegate on October 25, 2008, 12:52:30 PM I use an Intellifex in the loop.
Mixer dry at 0.0 for normal use and +4.5 for solos works great for me. Title: Re: Rocktron Xpression Post by: Steven_nl on October 25, 2008, 12:55:41 PM Hi Dave
do you notice that the fx are serial. So the clean signal is unaffected (no tone suck etc)? Enough level in the loop? Title: Re: Rocktron Xpression Post by: bluegate on October 25, 2008, 03:30:44 PM I don't use my kleinulator, tone is great.
Output is enough for my band needs, but if you play in a really loud band some more output from the Intellifex would be better. Title: Re: Rocktron Xpression Update Post by: Steven_nl on October 31, 2008, 08:07:18 AM a short review
Pros: Analog dry signal!! The dry signal goes straight to the output. Only the wet signal goes through the A/D converter and FX processor. No tone suck! you don't need a Kleinulator to get enough signal from your fx loop. output -10/+4dB effects are good quality quiet did I mention the analog dry signal Cons: Programming is a pain in the *** hardly any decent presets only 1 reverb what the f*** is 2 voice chorus? Steven Title: Re: Rocktron Xpression Update Post by: bluegate on October 31, 2008, 04:03:42 PM How many Reverbs do you need? Just one that sounds good ;-)
I hate chorus so I don't use it, instead I use pitchshift +4% and -4% this gives a more natural chorus where the sweepfrequency varies with the played pitch. 2 Voice Chorus are two modulated delay lines, gives a bigger chorus sound. Original Intellifex has an 8 Voice Chorus... Programming is easy, just need to scroll a lot. There are PC-editors to make this easier. I think there's no PC editor for the Xpression. Title: Re: Rocktron Xpression Update Post by: bluegate on November 01, 2008, 07:59:02 PM Yes, I don't know if the expression has a two voice pitchshifter but my Intellifex does the trick.
I have an old blackface Intellifex I bought for 69 Euro... ;D Like it even better than my 3 Eventides I have owned. Today I ordered parts for a new amp I'm building. It's based on a Trainwreck Express, hopefully the parts will arrive this week.
