Hi,

After trying Erwin's OTS and HRM I decided to order myself an OTS plus an oversized 2x12 with Celestion G12-65 Heritage speakers Smiley

I really loved the sound, but I think I'd sometimes prefer a more aggressive sound, a bit tighter, bit more Marshally I'd say. I've heard great stories about the overdrive trimmer, people say it can change the character of the overdrive in this way. What do you guys think?

 I have a good alternative around, a nice Plexi-like overdrive pedal, but it would be great if I get the overdrive a bit tighter with just the overdrive trimmer.

I moved the OD trim pot to the back panel to make it easy to tweak when needed.  This trim pot can increase your OD by several times, putting it easily in the Marshall category.

Mine came from the factory set at about 9 o'clock which was perfect for what I do (blues, Santana, classic rock).  I have increased it a few times at gigs, but it gets to wild for me very quickly.

Hi Emiel,
I don't think you can get a OTS more tight in the lows than the one you played at my place. That's the character of a Non-hrm.
HRM can get much more tight.
On the od trimmer; adjust to taste:  from 20kOhm to 35kOhm(measured from ground) is were all d-tones are.
If you like a more aggressive sound from your LP  I suggest you adjust your pups a bit higher towards the strings. The OTS can take that very well.

@ Roadapple,

Mine will have an outside OD trimmer as well! What do you mean exactly by Marshall territory? After owning multiple Marshalls I think I can say pretty much most of them are really tight in the low end. Of course Marshall's are completely different beasts but it would be fantastic if I could get the OTS a bit tighter for some occasions. To be honest I rarely play real hardrock which requires tightness for the palmmutes but still...! Maybe I'm dreaming or asking too much.

Thanks! So you are basically saying that you won't get a tighter sound with the overdrive trimmer set a bit higher?

I got a mail from my ampbuilder Franc Vernet and he says the od trimmer will do pretty much what I want, so it's a bit weird to hear different views on this subject  Huh?

Maybe Franc translated your wishes that you liked more gain? Just be patient; I'm sure he will make it growl.

Guess you are right. It's the waiting time. You start to think about every little thing... and I'm actually thinking to get an additional Marshall JMP mastervolume for that sound so where am I worrying about!

6L6's IMO sound loose no matter what guitar amp theyre in, try some EL34's or KT77's to tighten up the bass
