Sounds awesome.... can you perhaps switch between 183 Quinn and Bluesmaster preamp on the fly.
I would love to hear the difference side by side in the same clip.
 ;)

Sounds very nice, probably the best drive tone compare to your older recordings.
playing is lovely as usual.

Give us a clean tone with same guitar and also comparison to the Ceratone's preamp please.

Cheers

Sounds incredible. Would love to hear it in person. I missed the FET clip over at ampgarage. Boy that is really driving.

Cool grill cloths on the amp and cab.

Is the RG400 cable any special brand?

Bold, it sounds really great.

Are those RG400 cables at 270pf per cable or in total

regards

Yeah I'm working on a remote preamp switcher for the both of them, waiting for parts from mouser. When I get everything setup I'll make another clip to compare. Right now I'm diggin this configuration because its like having 2 amps in one.

Nah, just look for MIL-DTL-17 spec'd (make sure the conductor is stranded) coaxial cable like this:

Yes they're 270 pF per side (send & return from D-lator)

Thanks for all your kind words guys.

@boldaslove: Where can I get this nice Rack that fits between the head and the cab?

When I built my K-ulator I also built this 3U rack housing to match the OTS.

I bet if you asked any cab maker would make you one, it's dead simple.

Looks like an SKB  X-rack 4 Unit version.

I have two 2unit x rack. They are very light shallow racks.

Yeah its just a standard 4U SKB road rack. I see myself switching to a 10 rack in the future and utilizing a Custom Audio Electronics type remote effects switcher.

Sounds Awesome!!!  :chairdance:

I have a very stupid question. How do you use the D-Lator if you are using the power amp input on the Bluesmaster amp? I am gathering it is somehow directly wired via the Coax; am i correct in assuming you wire the coax connection on the inside of the Bluesmaster and run the coax out? Told you it was a stupid question ;)

That's alright, here's how its all set up:

The input from the guitar goes to the preamp

The preamp has an output (Or "Send")

That Output goes to the Input of the D-lator

The Output of the D-lator goes to the Input (Or "Return")Bluesmaster's power amp.

I'm using RG-400 with 1/4 plugs as regular connection cord from the Preamp+Pwr to the D-lator. Each length of cord is 270pF.

The concept is quite simple, all I'm doing is substituing one preamp for another.

Cool. I figured it had to be simpler than what i was thinking. I figured you were going from the preamp out from the quinn and then into the power amp in on the BM, just didn't know where the dlator went in :). Sounds great, and thanks for the info!

Hi
Need some "patch" cables between my Ojai-type of amp and the D-Lator. Using the DLator w long cables or no DLator is a HUGE difference soundwise. I need some new cables since I use some high quality but very long guitar cables at the moment.
I see mention of 270pF total for each cable going to and from the amp. The cables specs are about 80-90pF/meter (30pF/ft). Does this mean your cables each are about 3 meters long?

Both of the cables are 270 pF individualy, not the total of the two.

One way to go is get some George L cable and connectors (Lava also make some).  No soldering required and you can cut them to the length you need.  I run these between my C-lator and amp which are in the same head cab.

YES, total of 270pF for each cable. Have you measured? RG400 cables is about 80-90pF/meter (30pF/ft). Does this mean your cables are 3 meters (about 10feet) long?

Yes I measured, they're approx.10ft. You have to measure them with a pF meter for them to be accurate although, not just by length.

Oh, I'll go home and see what the cables I use now measure.
I guess the jacks give some capacitance too.

I have just completed the same setup using a G-Sharp from TC Electronic and a C-Lator into an OTS50 - concern about the hiss coming from the G-Sharp, have you experienced same thing?

Thanks

What is your rig in detail?

Are you using a power conditioner with all grounded plugs?

My D-lator does not have a grounded plug BTW.
