Title: Re: Preamp Tube Question Post by: mattstratocaster on November 14, 2009, 05:14:17 PM I am planning to try the Philips JAN 5751 tubes in the V2 position since the overdrive channel drives this tube to into clipping to get the distortion. They recommend using this tube if you have gain to spare which i do in the overdrive channel so i will try it in that slot. Title: Re: Preamp Tube Question Post by: tonym on November 15, 2009, 11:08:24 AM I tried a Jan 5751 in V3 and later replaced it with a 12ax7-c. There was in my view a substantial difference in tone.
