I built the amp about 18 months ago.

Now this amp has over 300 shows to it's credit and my main giging amp.
It was used  on a Major Australian musical for 8 shows a week for 3 months.

Tonight power up----> main power fuse is blown????another fuse same. no valves same..... Had to use another amp for the show. Angry

Just got home from the show, had a look does not smell good.  I'll check but I'm tired and not willing to go further after a show. Cry

Anyone experience problems with the PT?
I know not many other users will have put that much mileage on an amp.
But my 1964 Fender has never failed in this area (that is 45 years old).

Pull the amp out of the cab and take a look at all the components. Make sure you didnt burn a cap or resistor up. If everything checks out i would probably suspect the PT. Which in that case contact Nik, he will probably offer to ship a new PT over to you.

I havent heard of these amps blowing transformers that often so i would qualify 18 months for transformer life is too short and it probably had a defect

Well, my friends OTS had the same symptoms and it was a PT issue. In his case 345-0-345 secondary was fried.
I informed Nik and he send me a new one, which I replaced.
BTW the current PTs are bigger than older ones, so I assume the new one will definitely last forever.

My OTS still has the original PT and it works no problem. I guess sometimes some trannies just fail.

BTW here's the picture I took when I took out the old PT. Guess which one is the new one.  Wink

I had one go bad about a week or two after I got mine (complete build from Ceriatone).  They sent a new one out and no problems since.
