Stupid question:  but which end of the relay is the "coil" end (as indicated on the layout)?  I assume that it is the end with the indentation on the relay, which corresponds with the #1 pin, but am not sure.

I don't remember, but maybe if you look at some of the pictures that are posted in some of the build threads you can tell? I remember not being sure also, but googled the docs for the relays and it solved the mystery for me.

The relays I've got have a wiring diagram on the top. The coil is the rectangle symbol that's connected between pin 1 and pin 16. Another way; turn the relay upside down. You will notice that the pins are not symmetrical (2 rows of three pins spaced close and at the other end two pins spaced much farther away). The isolated pair of pins is the coil and it is inserted in the socket with that end oriented toward the filter cap board.
