Hi All,
I'm new to the forum. For my 2nd amplifier build I will be ordering Package #1 The 50w OTS kit. I have an old Traynor YGL-3A Mark 3 that I'd like to use for parts. It has a very large PT and OT originally for a quad of EL34's and rated at 80w @ 4 ohms. Will it be a problem using these with two 6L6's? Will I have trouble matching to the correct voltage?

Perhaps I should wait to use them with a JTM build.

I was trying to find a spec sheet for the transformer in question, but couldn't. As a drop in replacement, I have feeling it won't be as easy as that.

Do you know what the secondary voltages and current ratings are?

I would need to know this information to make any kind of proper conclusion.

Well, for the PT, you'll have to measure out the secondary voltages and current and then calculate out the spec under load.  You might try and find a schematic that will have the voltages on it.

The OT is probably a 1.6K-1.7KΩ:4Ω winding, which works out to 3.2KΩ:8Ω, not quite the optimal 4kΩ primary for a pair of 6L6GC's.

Thank you for your replies. I do have a schematic, somewhere. I will find it check the voltages and report back. What a great way to learn! Thanks again!

Here you go. I had found this the other day. I forgot to get back to it.
