Title: PIN voltages Post by: Fred.T on January 21, 2009, 12:17:05 AM Hello there!
Help me with opinions how important the pin voltage is..? I measured slightly lower on V1 pin1 - cca 176V and a tad higher on V2 and V3 than some other members here (>200V on V2 and >300 on V3). Also pin 3 on both 6L6 is about 460-470V. I measured the input voltage also and it's 230V rather then standard 220V (the tap I am using on trafo). I biased the tubes to 36mV. Is there anything I should take care off, or just Shut Up And Play My Guitar Thanks! http://ceriatoneforum.com/index.php?topic=871. Looks like yours are a little higher than normal, but I'm not qualified to make a judgement on whether thats a problem. Maybe with a 230v at the mains the transformer should be connected at the 240v tap not the 220v. In the UK we are nominally 240v but rarely see that, more normal is 228-235. Title: Re: PIN voltages Post by: Fred.T on January 21, 2009, 01:12:39 PM Actually I am not to worried about the higher voltage on 6L6, rather interested in what should be measured on V1a..?
If my voltage (176-180V) is too low, what can be done about that and is that a problem? Thanks Title: Re: PIN voltages Post by: mcinku on January 21, 2009, 02:02:55 PM It depends...
I've read on the TAG forum Glaswerks amps have around 185V on V1. It makes your clean ch sound a tad brighter (in a good way). If you like what you hear, don't touch it. |
