Hi guys,

I'm new to the forum and just bought a Bluesmaster kit. I'd like to change the footswitch connector from the 5-pin DIN to the 5-pin XLR connector (Switchcraft C5F) as seen on many original Dumbles. My question is, what modifications do I have to make (whether it be to the footswitch itself or connector on the amp) to have the two working in harmony?

Thanks!

Justin

None, you just connect it the same as the 5 pin DIN. Cutout size is different though.

If you search through Pickmasters posts he showed a way to use a two core and earth through a stereo jack to achieve the same thing, only difference is that the PAB light will be ON when PAB is OFF, and thats because of the way HAD wired his relays/override switches.

I did  the mod when I built mine and it is very robust.

Thanks for the reply. Did you have to pull out the cable from the footswitch and re-wire/replace the entire cable to an XLR? Sorry, I just don't fully understand this. Thanks again.

I actually made a new footswitch, with a 5 pin XLR socket on it aswell, so I could have more than one length of cable.

I then modded my original footswitch as per Pickmasters drawing to take a stereo jack socket, and made a short adapter cable from stereo jack socket ro XLR 5pin.
