Title: Overtone ordering options + tranny question Post by: eVITAERC on April 04, 2008, 08:39:12 AM Hi guys, I'm new to Ceriatone and let me tell ya, I was compelled to join after hearing my friend's 2204 clone. That thing was a monster!
I'm currently looking to get the Overtone special. However, do you guys think it is possible to get the Overtone as a completely unassembled kit? (chassis, eyelet board, parts, acessories, pedalboard, but sans cabinet, tranny, and tubes). Has anyone ordered like this before? Aside from absolutely loving to solder my own electronics, I wonder if it'll shorten the waiting time in any way (assuming Nik doesn't recieve the boards completely assembled from the contractor already). Also, if I were to source my own chokes and transformers (from, say, MM), what would the specs be? Is it similar to the specs of what the Fender Twin blackface used? (the specs on the hacked Dumble schemetics look similar) Thanks guys, I look forward to owning an Overtone! I've ordered 2 kits (DC30 and the Overtone) from Nik and he was flexible to let me do as much as I wanted. I would think it's possible to get all parts unassembled. I ordered the Overtone Package 2 this last December and received it in 3 weeks. He did comment that the delay was partly due to waiting for a shipment of transformers and partly for time to assemble the boards. I chose to include the transformers in the kit because I've heard they were good quality and I was uncertain as you are which ones to use.
