Well, I can understand Nik's decision.  Nobody needs the kind of negativity and hostility circulating around the amp forums.  It's a good idea to let things cool down.  I will post my review, any pictures and soundclips here and only here.  I'm done with the politics over there.

There was a big issue about Nik taking info from the AmpGarage site, IIRC.  It was from Dumble # 124 - there were pics posted on AmpGarage a while back.

Forge ahead, Nik. Never mind the bollocks.

As they say in Ocham....

I believe Nik will still sell the kit. I'm sure he will build for people if they ask. Should be a pretty good amp.

Damn those snobs.   Angry
I don't  know what those guys at AmpGarage are saying but I can imagine. The same shit was happening with TW clones.

For crying out loud, he is not selling a Dumble... it's a clone, not even the exact one!!!! everybody everywhere is doing it... and I'm not talking only amps here...

I say Fu**k them all and bring back the amp, the market will decide if this is a good idea or not. Those guys can cry as much as they want.

BRING IT BACK, BRING IT BACK !!!!!!

I can kind of see what the Amp Garage crew are saying, because he took info that someone worked hard to acquire and is using it to make a living.  I don't have any qualms with that (nor do I have any qualms with the T-wreck stuff), but not giving the people who did a portion of the leg work credit is a bit "grey" to me.

To be honest, I think that part of the reason that Amp Garage is poo-pooing Ceriatone stuff is because you no longer have to build your own 'wreck clone, and amp builders can be a vain community.

I do think that the worse was at TheGearPAge.

Anyway.. let´s not forget that the person who posted all the pics and info about Dumble #124 did say: "The hand-drawn diagrams and the opportunity for me to take these pictures are courtesy of my good friend Billy, who insisted that this information be shared with all amp enthusiasts without restrictions."  (this is a quote from himself).

And Nik´s Dumble version was not even an exact clone of that amp...

I do understand what you´re saying about a grey area.. but.. all the amp business is "gray" and everybody just copies and clones each other.. and there are many cloners out there that only get praise for their work (which is, also, being sold.. most of the times at insane prices).

It´s interesting to see Ceriatone stirring so much feellings out there.. I have my own opinion about all this Ceriatone hate (and I´m not  a Ceriatone fanboy at all).. but I would rather not share it here. We never know.... anybody can register here.. even those.. and I wish this forum to be kept free from much of the nonsense I´ve been reading on a lot of Internet forums..

That's very true about cloners.  Hell, a lot of great amp companies started out as a clone company, or are still cloning amps and selling them for big cash.

I think that Nik provides a service for people who cannot afford the real thing, and I think that they're 90% of the real amp.  Is that last 10% what makes a Matchless Lightning worth what it is worth?  To me, yes.  The same situation with a MIM Strat vs. a Suhr/G&L/Fender CS.  That last 5 or 10% is where the money comes in.

I firmly believe that all of the nay-sayers are ones with "dirty hands"...Nik is not to blame, not one bit!  It's all about jealousy!

It's a bit sad that Nik had to withdraw the amp. He certainly didn't have to do that but apparently decided to take what he thought was best for everyone in the long run to put the fracas to rest. I don't think it was because his business was hit by the so-called negativity. I would think that actually the opposite would be true. It's more of a reputation preservavtion thing i guess.

Personally, he has given people like me who cannot get access to quality amps at a reasonable price (especially here in Malaysia) a chance to achieve the tone we desire. You would think that an entry-level tube amps like fender blues junior is reasonable at USD 400 + but over here it costs something like USD 800 ! Needless to say I got a complete combo (cabinet and all) Ceriatone 18watter instead for the money.

And yes, Nik is a great guy in person too. His workshop is spanking clean, his workers disciplined and skilled and he's passionate about amps. All make for a good recipe for quality products. I would know since I work for a multinational oil and gas company. So you guys rest assured.
