I'm about to pull the trigger on a TC G system to use with my OTS - I need to still use a few of my vintage analogue pedals with programmable delays, reverbs etc... which the TC seems perfectly adapted- I know there's a few high profile users but I highly respect the opinions on this forum and would appreciate any comments?  :)

Got the G system today- and first impressions are very good- very pristine delays/reverbs etc... I've always been a fan of TC stuff & have owned a SCF chorus for years.  I especially like the de-tuned 'chorus' effect- not a big fan of the chorus effect per se- but this allows me to just a get a gentle modulation (think Pat Metheny) going without sounding all '80's (ugh!)  :-X :-[  Sounds very cool in the effex loop- once i figured out how to hook it up correctly- this is a complex beast- but already I've improved my clean tones no end.  A cool feature is being able to foot switch and access individual effects within a preset- very neat.  I have discovered a small mis-match in the OTS loop levels- but I guess I'll figure that out when I can try it at louder than whisper levels today in the house!  But the buffered loop in the TC seems to retain all the highs lost with my previous EH MM hazarai echo pedal.  May try and post some clips if I ever get a minute! 

It seems the TC Nova Delay is best setup for inclusion in the FX loop. See John Edmonds thread on his set up and I guess this is down to the ability to calibrate the input signal level. My G# won't work without a *ator of some sort, there is too much loss of volume. I know this is the very cheapest of the TC products but being rack mount they must have known it would go in a loop and not all guitar amp loops are valve powered, though I guess they think along the lines that most major makes like Fender etc don't include passive loops.

The G System is a complex beast so i'd investigate whether it has some sort of input calibration method since it is able to take input levels as high as 18dBu which is even higher than the Nova. Putting it (or some of its effects) in the loop, in a live situation though is going to require two longish cables which will inevitably lead to losses.

No problem with the input level- like your experience with the  G sharp my problem is the lack of o/p from the G system back to the power amp section of the OTS- no problems with any tone loss from cables with the buffered loop etc- but serious o/p drop, I guess that's the reason for the kleinulator in OTS passive send/returns- I've built my own version of the Kleinulator using burr brown op amps but hoped to avoid having to use it- having now put it back in it fixed the problem straight away- but was dismayed at the amount of return boost I had to apply!  I think this is just specifically an issue with the way the OTS loop works.  Will try the G system in another amp with an effex loop and report back if I see whether it has the same issues.

Looking at the specs for the G, input level 18dBu, max output level 12dBu. I guess that where your problem is coming from.
