Title: OTS S&M Switching from OD to Clean on a gig Post by: BadSneakers on February 07, 2011, 11:01:06 PM Hi,
I'm still learning about all the D-Style amps and circuits and if I ever had to build my own amp, it might take me years to complete it. With that being said, I'm seriously considering purchasing a pre-built OTS. After listening to as many clips as I could, I think my preference for an OD sound (based on the clips I've heard) can be found in the Ceriatone S&D OTS amp. Unfortunately, I have also read and heard that because both the clean and OD channels share the same tone stack, that channel switching can be a bit of a challenge (especially during a gig). I was wondering if anyone had any ideas (short of working with dual heads), on how best to get the OD S&D sound and use this amp for gigs (where I need a good clean sound). For what it's worth, I'd probably purchase the C-Lator as well, so perhaps I could do something in the FX loop? If anyone gigs with the OTS S&D, I'd be curious to see how they deal with this issue. Thanks a bunch. Jeff Title: Re: OTS S&M Switching from OD to Clean on a gig Post by: MaxBoogie on February 08, 2011, 12:59:04 AM I don't have an answer for you, sorry...
But I was wondering if your screen name might be followed by "and a pina colada, my friend"? ;D Title: Re: OTS S&M Switching from OD to Clean on a gig Post by: exocet on February 08, 2011, 02:22:38 PM Personally I've never had any issues about switching between Clean / OD on my OTS. There again perhaps I'm not that demanding!!
I don't have a problem with balancing the relative levels and generally set the EQ for my OD sound, the clean takes care of itself. Occasionally I might turn the Treble up a bit higher to get a bit more sparkle on clean chords but all I do then is back the tone control off a bit on the guitar for OD sound. If you use a Klein / C-Lator then it is quite feasible to put an EQ pedal in the loop, I have read that some other OTS amp users do this. I'm just curious, which OTS are you playing through, is the OTS S&M or the standard OTS or some other model? Thanks again.
