Title: OTS Pre Amp Layout Post by: rsalinger on March 27, 2010, 03:30:42 PM Does anyone have a layout/schematic for the OD preamp section of the OTS? ...or know where I could get one?
Thanks, Rob Title: Re: OTS Pre Amp Layout Post by: mcinku on March 29, 2010, 06:19:02 AM Layout is on Niks site obviously... just take away the power amp part.
Here's preamp schematic of #124... the red values are from OTS S&M. ;) Title: Re: OTS Pre Amp Layout Post by: erwin_ve on March 29, 2010, 06:39:22 AM Layout is on Niks site obviously... just take away the power amp part. Ufff my mistake... now it's fixed thanks ;) Title: Re: OTS Pre Amp Layout Post by: rsalinger on March 29, 2010, 10:10:15 AM Thanks for the schematic, mcinku.

Thank you for all the responses and e-mails in regard to the Overdrive Special schematic (especially mcinku and ttt). Recently, I finished my first scratch build (with a lotta help from Pops), a Dr. Z Stangray Clone, which is my Clean "grail tone". The Stangray is more-or-less Vox AC-30 "inspired" amp with a Matchless Cheiftain mid control. However, what I was hoping to do was add the Overdrive Special OD circuit with a relay to function as a 'lead channel'. Is this feasable? If so, what parts of the schematic should I ignore? Thanks, respectfully, Rob Salinger Title: Re: OTS Pre Amp Layout Post by: hywelg on March 30, 2010, 03:22:23 PM I'm no electronics wiz but first off you're going to need another valve in there, and I don't think I've ever seen a circuit where an EF86 feeds another gain stage.
Title: Re: OTS Pre Amp Layout Post by: rsalinger on March 31, 2010, 02:51:05 PM Thanks hywelg,
That's exactly what I thought. The whole reason that I thought of this set up is because of Brad Paisley (whose tone I adore). He plays a Dr. Z Stangray Amp with a Zen Drive Pedal. The Zen Drive is a Dumble-type pedal... So, I figures I'd try to put "A" and "B" together. You know 1 and 1 is 2. I'm gonna look into this further, then. Thanks, Rob |
