Title: OTS Lunchbox - What is this? (Layout Question) Post by: Randy on October 05, 2015, 01:02:28 AM Hello and thanks in advance,
I've got an OTS Lunchbox build I've been working on for some time. I'm getting close to the end but there's one looming issue I haven't found the answer to yet. There are two components on the layout that I can't find referenced anywhere else... I checked the 'gutshots', as well as the OTS Mini Build Tips PDF and they're absent from either, so I'm assuming they were added in with a more recent revision? Anyway, both seem to go to ground but what they actually ARE, I have no idea. Pics follow (area in question are circled): New Layout: (http://www.jcedricguitars.com/images/gear/otsminibuild/newlayout.JPG) Old Layout (from the OTS Mini Build Tips PDF; (http://www.jcedricguitars.com/images/gear/otsminibuild/oldlayoutsmall.JPG) (http://www.jcedricguitars.com/images/gear/otsminibuild/oldlayoutcloseup.JPG) And a shot of that area, from the 'gutshot' on Ceriatone's official site: (http://www.jcedricguitars.com/images/gear/otsminibuild/OLunch_52B.jpg) So yeah, what am I missing? Thanks again Title: Re: OTS Lunchbox - What is this? (Layout Question) Post by: Sion4000 on October 08, 2015, 05:53:43 AM I couldn't figure this out either so I wired it up as shown on the old layout. Works fine aside from a possible issue with the boost but I doubt they're related. Good luck either way!
Title: Re: OTS Lunchbox - What is this? (Layout Question) Post by: Randy on November 18, 2015, 01:58:49 AM I mentioned in my newer thread but incase anybody missed it, I ended up finishing this build based on what you said.
After a good bit of looking through other layouts and different builds, I think I've determined that Nik refined the layout (latest was fairly recent, April 2015), but there was a period of time where there were chassis that went out in the old configuration. I believe a newer OTS Lunchbox will have two more holes punched in it between the power tube sockets, as well as two terminals (I believe mine did ship with these extra terminals). Considering they ultimately run to ground, I'm going to assume it's some kind of additional hum suppression, but I'm pretty satisfied with the results of running them like the old layour. |
