Title: OTS 50W need help with unidentified switches by preamp tubes Post by: IndySouthPaw on January 19, 2012, 12:34:30 AM I need some help guys! I just received my OTS 50W which is great. I have been going through the manuals and forums etc to make sure I know exactly what everything does. The only thing left that I am confused about is this.... On the OTS there are 3 preamp tubes. The middle one, directly below "Effects Loop" illustrated on back panel, has two 2 way switches on each side of the tube. They are identical to all other small switches used on this amp (example: overdrive and preamp boost switches). I don't know what they are there for and I also don't know if they should be facing me or facing toward the front of the amp. I am only describing it that way so we can standardize on switch position orientation before I get confused ??? Any help would be great!!! I don't want to blow something up :o

Although i don't believe the regular OTS amps have them, but you said you had extra switches added, so that may be the case. The adjust the frequency response of the amp.

You really know your stuff ;D Do you recommend a position or if not, can I switch these while the amp is on with out hurting anything for a desired sound? Thanks!
Title: Re: OTS 50W need help with unidentified switches by preamp tubes Post by: sduck on January 19, 2012, 04:40:50 AM They're not standard, and as such don't have a standard setting. You're going to have to get in touch with the person who built the amp, or the person who added them, and find out what the different settings are for.

If I had to guess, I would say one is for the LNFB and one is for the "snubbers" on V2. They are both designed to change the frequency response of the amp to a degree. Hope you get it figured out! I was wanting a fat amp and very scared of it being too high pitched because I love bass and smooth mid with a little compressed overdrive/gain similar to a Santana or some of Warren Haynes Mesa sounds. Nik did build the amp and answered my request by installing 3 way bright switch, 3 way mid boost, and "snubber switches V2". Those snubber switches must be just what they are. My question then can I flip these while the amp is on to test out the sound? I apologize if these are stupid questions. I am a player and play very well but I am not an electrical engineer. At least I am trying right :-[ I know this amp will be perfect for my playing needs and I understand most of how to operate other than a few things and like I said before I just don't want to blow anything up. Any of you coming to Indianapolis? Drinks on me!!!!!
