who has them? not necesarily a clean/light OD chord progression as i am thinking rock rhythms - like 70's riffing and whatnot.

i've heard plenty of clips of the OTS with super saturated singing leads, and rhythm/chording on the clean channel.

i'd like to hear how it handles rock riffing, maybe even some more modern genre's too. i'm sure that the amp can reach that territory, i've just never heard it recorded.

The reason why you rarely hear ACDC/Foreinger/Free/Bad Company -type of riffs recorded with Dumble style amps, is probably because Dumble amps are not particularly suited for crunch chords. The Dumble sound is too compressed for Chrunch chords IMHO. Go for a dryer amp/preamp like a Marshall/SSoldano/KRANK or whatever in that ballpark if you want crunch.

actually, i posted this after watching that video because i noticed the amp can rock, but no one ever seems to show it other than this guy in his bed room Smiley

however i disagree with that statement, that not ENTIRELY what i meant by crunch sounds because i am thinking more along modern music which would be highly compressed.

here are a few better examples - not necesarily my favorite music, but i'm curious as to weather or not it can handle this style of guitar playing.

i know the foo fighters use mesa boogie road kings, i guess i'm just asking if its an amp that can keep up with modern amps when it needs to? i know it shares a similar layout to a markII which to me means potential Tongue

i plan on getting the HRM50 and running 2xKT88's at 100W total with MM transformers so i can get a huge sound with more punch. from there i'll probably tweak a couple things between S&M values, standard values, and maybe try some mesa circuitry Tongue

no i appreciate the help, i dont want to sound like a stuck up forum noob!  Embarrassed i just wasnt clear enough.

i'm not really asking for info becuase i'm pretty sure i'm experienced enough to  make the HRM do what i want it to do.

when you referenced those bands i thought early plexi and realised i should correct it because i see a lot of people asking that. i dont want marshall territory because my DC30 can handle that ground even though it probably shouldnt be pushed that hard  Tongue

all i really was asking for were sound clips becuase its nice to know that someone else is doing the same thing as me  Smiley

i have been using the hrm for quite a while now.......it should be fine for just about anything you throw at it......you just have to learn to tweak the thing

Couldn't agree more!

But that's reality, it seems most people buy these Overtones for their singing leads and not so for rhythm work. I'm currently waiting for an OTS, which will have EL34's which - maybe combined with a deep switch - hopefully will make the amp a bit tighter in the low end and thus more suitable for rhythm work. I really like its tone and tend to use the OTS for everything... jazzy bits, blues and ROCK. And yes I mean '70s rock with that. I heard some clips which showed the amp cán deliver it, but as said it needs some tweaking... I will try to get the amp that far. I don't want to get Marshall crunch out it but some more tightness would come in handy so I can play those power chords without too much flabbiness. The HRM definitely sounds tighter but I much liked the overall character of the OTS... I hope EL34's and some tweaking will make the low end more 'my style' Smiley

i have wide variety of gigs and music to be played through it.... from santana....bad company....acdc.....ZZtop and then all the way down to smooth mellow blues for other gigs.....the amp has the ability to cover it, and believeme  the the 50W version has plenty of power to spare.

its a matter of knowing the animal and knowing how to dial up your sounds and there are so many good ones AND they are usable at any volume (this is the best thing i like about this amp)

well thanks for the info. i plan on building it more so from scratch so i'll be ordering most parts seperate. i think i'll make the OT capable of 70W or so to try a variety of poweramp tubes, i've heard 60W from KT88s is the best middleground between a 50 and 100 watt amp so thats my first shot Smiley

i'm begining my build in june when im done with school and will be documenting the whole thing on here, from ordering parts to tubing.
