I'm quite new here, and first of all I got a question, hope you can help :) I just bought a used Overtone 50W (non hrm), and I must say I'm really happy with the tone the amp makes! I'm using also a kleinulator in the FX-Loop. My problem now is: The amp is really noisy and buzzy, especially in the overdrive-mode. It's really loud! It has nothing to do with the kleinulator. The noise is quite there when I plugged off the kleinulator from the amp. Could anyone help please? Thanks and regards from germany! Also would you say it was a hum or buzz (If that makes any sense)? Checked all cords ( guitar cables and speaker cables) Have you swapped preamp tubes? If not find one that you know works and swap tubes 1 by 1 until you've either narrowed it down to a faulty tube or not.
I know these questions may seem rather obvious but usually all signs point to a simple problem that until you rule it out you can't completely say otherwise, just sayin.. Title: Re: Noise and buzz Post by: ampkits on October 06, 2010, 06:49:08 AM Hi If the amp was a kit, check first if the wirings are alright. But usually, its got to do with settings. The OD trim might be too high, perhaps, and you try to run it with the OD controls too high. If the OD controls in front are set to very high, you'd have noise. And testing the amp with you too close with the guitar, that'd bring some noise too. Maybe try with the controls at 12 o clock first, see how that goes. And of course, prelims like how the amp is biased should be checked. Do check out the manual thats on the website? Thanks! Nik |
