Hi there,

Just found a new speaker Fane Studio 12L.Unbelievable specs: 45 – 7000 hz, 102 db, 200w.
http://www.fane-acoustics.com/prod_details.aspx?pid=174

Looks like an EV 12L competitor and cheaper.
I have not tried it yet and if any of you did, please let me know your impressions.
Cheers

Its a descendant of the Fane Cressendo, one of which I owned back in the 80's. Almost same specs as the Studio 12L, but it had an alumium voice coil, that I found kind of harsch at the time, but It was great for clean sounds. It reminded me of the Altec that Carlos Santana use in his Boogie Combo.

Today I would be happy to use that particular speaker, only with some treble bleed/higher snubbers in my Dumble Clones.

The 12L don't have alumium voice coil and it probably sounds very close to an EV12L.

Hi Doc ! Thank for the info, thanks also to fenderman for the interesting history.
Did not found price on the Fane site.
Unfortunately, on my island here, other side of atlantic, the shipping charges probably be too much.
I would be interesting to approch the Altec tone !
I just got my OTS chassis and near ready to order 2 speakers for build 2 cabs.  One commonwealth 12" and one Delta Pro 12" A.
I am working to build something so nice as your Doc !!

I forgot the question.... Have you an opinion about these 2 speaks ?
The Commonwealth is supposed to  have the JBL E120 tone, and the Delta Pro 12 supposed to be good to replace a EMV 12L.
thanks !

I thought the Emi Kappa Pro model was supposed to compete with the EV12L.

Anywain in my band we have a pair of DIY EV300sx (1x12 + horn) PA speakers. We used to have an EV12L in one and a Kappa Pro in the other, (before we retired these for a couple of Delta lites and saved 5kg per cabinet!!)

The EV and Kappa sounded exactly the same - great speaker, the kappa.

Thanks my man!
I really like EVM 12L so Delta pro 12 must be OK.
Also I just love closed back, front tube ported 1x12 cab for EV !!!
Alphonso Harmide makes nice ones, chek out the design.

Bonjour les gars !

Let me first thanks all you two, and all others for this unbelieving forum ! (Also, sorry for my English..)
I am a newbie (from far countries) and I find so much info on it, very nice comunauty.
I hope I will be able to give something back one day.

Well I did not find the Emi Kappa Pro on Eminence web site on 12" and 15" pages, is it discontinued model ?

My OTS head cab is near finished, so I pluged it without waiting corners, grill cloth and feet...  for sure.

For the time I puged it in my old 1x 12 EMV closed back Mesa cab witch I usely use with my Mark 1.

Messieurs, surprise !!  I was unable to find so a rich sound that with Mark 1.

I understand I am a real newbie with OTS too... so I tried settings Doc gave on other post.
Also Nik gave me some close "start settings".

Realy not bad but if I plug back the Mark 1 The sound is round, very very warm and very rich especialy in the meddles and bass.

If you know Mark 1, do you thing the OTS will never give so warm, or have I a very very long way to go..... Huh?

Doc, as you, I learnt to apreciate the closed back, since I have my EMV Mesa Cab !
Fenderman, do you found same coloration between Delta lite and EV12L or Kappa Pro ? In such a case it is good to win 5 kg !
