Title: Modding an OTS 50 to HRM?
Post by: achim1 on November 15, 2011, 09:31:49 AM
Hei all you modding-specialists out there!

I am owning a very nice OTS 50, and my question is: Is it possible to mod the OTS with an EQ in the overdrive-channel? When possible, how could this be done? It's because I would have a distortion sound with a bit more midrange, and less upper range.
Thanks!

1. Change 150k slope resistor to 68k 2watt. – bit more lower mids, compression and touch sensitivity.
2. add second 390pf capacitor to V2 tube !!!
3. Put 3 way switch on master volume with OFF, 33pf, and 64pf caps.
4. Change RATIO’s (X) feeding 150k resistor to 10k and following 0,005mf cap to 0,01mf.
5. Change MID-BOOST’s 390pf cap to 470, sweeter tone.

Thanks, Pickmaster!  :D
But this isn't the "real" HRM-Mod, isn't it? Your mod increases mids and softens highrange, or am I wrong?

OTS has lovely tone and you don’t want to spoil it with an additional HRM tone stack.
Suggested mods will make amp bigger, fatter and sweeter with reduced Highs.
As more capacitance on V2 more highs will be reduced on overdrive CH.

If you still want the HRM check out layout on the Ceriatone website, dead easy to built and install little board.

Be cool.

Hi there achim, pickmeister :)

As for the HRM tonestack mod, since people are curious, you can indeed put one and make a switch for it.

This most likely means a floating cap at the switch.

You'd notice loss when it's engaged, but if it's your thing, then it's good.

Thanks!

Nice to hear from you Nik :)
HRM switch is a good idea!
