Go and see this guy. Doesn't matter if you're not into Blues, his tone and playing is phenomenal. 4 dates in May. BTW his amp tech hates Ceriatone amps, he is quoted as saying the components are cheap and nasty (or words to that effect) Cheesy

http://www.mattschofield.net/shows.html Plays either a TR CRS or Bludotone (Larry Carltons amp) Sounds great through anything though.

I'm listening the past 2 years Matt's cd's. He's very good player, I love his sound and phrasing.

Sounds  like Robben Ford in wooden shoes   :}

Great player. Can't say I've heard him before.

Some great players are coming to Holland
Robben Ford with Bill Evans I have tickets!!
Philip Sayce
and Matt Schofield. I'll try to get tickets

Phip Syace is great too, but might be a bit to wild. I'll decide later :-)

thanks again!

Not quite sure what to make of that comment. He is no slouch, his playing is definitely not wooden and he does not sound like RF.

Perhaps he thinks Schofield is Dutch (based on the thread title) and it's supposed to be a reference to wooden clogs.

The guy needs to get out more.... Smiley

I've seen Matt Schofield Trio and they are really, really good. On of the best blues artists in Britain right now IMHO. And no - he doesn't sound one bit like RF.

"Perhaps he thinks Schofield is Dutch "

Are you referring to John Scofield, the insipid American fusion player or Arnold Schoenberg, the composer?

Either way, if you're trying to appear "superior" in some fashion, you missed the mark by a few kilometers.

We were perplexed at your comment that

and frankly thought it sounded a little condenscending.

I went to the concert last night. Excelent bluesplayer.Great sound. My wife liked it as well  Grin.

I was expecting him to play a Bludo or TwoRock but he wasn't. He used a Dr Z. With a boost and an overdrive pedal. Sounded pretty good I must say.
I got a chance to talk to him after the show. Realy nice guy. Chatted a bit about amps. He was going over to the US on tour. Bludo is building him his own amp and he's picking it up when he's over there. He's using a Dr. Z because he wanted a simple setup and the Dr Z sounds like his Super Reverb.

Thanks again for the tip!
