I posted an ad on here saying I wanted a kleinulator.  A guy named Tod Wilcox answered via email and said he had one.  We agreed on a price of $90 and he shipped it to me.  I got it today and to my dismay the on/off switch will not stay in the on position.  I's like it's spring loaded to return right back to the off position once you let go if that makes since.  Even if I hold it in the on position the light doesn't come on and no sound comes from the amp.  Anyone have any ideas what could be going on here?

Ok I just want to update and say Todd has already refunded my money! Stand up guy!  Sorry for jumping to conclusions but I already got screwed once today on ebay with a guy claiming he didn't get a package I delivered so I just assumed this was my unlucky day.  I do want to leave the thread open though because Todd is giving me till monday to ship it back out to him so I can see if I can possibly get it fixed.  So any ideas wouild be great at this point.

Also, does anyone know this Tod Wilcox guy?  I "gifted" him the money, and now he's like "oh yeah just send it back and I'll return your money".  This sux!
Yeah, I know him quite well. First, I think dealing with him privately would be much more appropriate since he has and is communicating with you. I know for a fact that this unit was in perfect working condition. However it is quite possible that it was abused by the shipper and the switch has been broken. These things happen.

Do you have a DMM? If you don't want to send it back and you want to keep it you could check the switch to see if it is within the switch and then make a decision based on that.

But all this should be discussed with between you two.

Replace the switch. It's very likeley a SPDT (maybe DPDT) toggle. Rat Shack should have one.

i agree. I know the UPS guy that delivers to my work is a bit rough with things. in contrast the ups guy that delivers to my house about a mile away is super gentle with everything he touches. go figure. i bet it was damaged in shipping

I do have a DMM!  From which you could infer that I am good with that kind of stuff.  And you would be wrong!  How would I go about testing it?  And if there was a short or something would that cause the switch to act like a breaker switch which wont stay in the on position?  Ideally I would like to keep this because I feel I got a good deal on it and there is not an abundance of used ones out there.

Thanks for the input and character references on Todd.  I knew he was a standup guy as soon as he offered to refund my money before I shipped it back to him...

The problem with the toggle right now is that it is an open circuit. A short at that toggle and the problem would be the opposite, always on whenever the power supply is plugged in and wont turn off.
If I had it on my bench I would replace the toggle ( $3 part and would take 5 min. ), but if your not experienced in doing so it can be a PITA because it is rather small and the contacts are very close to one another. If you want to send it back I will fix that and make sure everything checks out before wrapping it 20 times in bubble wrap:) and send it back.
If you know a good tech it should be an easy repair as well and hopefully cheap. Let me know what price you are quoted for the repair and I will discount that and then some from it.
Once again Sorry about the troubles I have no intention of selling faulty equipment.

hey man shit happens.  I just got this feeling in my gut like "crap I've been screwed twice in one day on internet dealings".  I'm pretty sure the guy I sent the package to is BSing about not getting it because he saw that I didn't spring for the tracking.  Anyway, lesson learned.  I actually just picked up Fuchs Verbrator from TGP since it includes reverb and should accomplish the same thing.  I'm still gonna try and see if my tech can look at it this weekend though.  Either way I'll let you know on Monday whats going on.  Thanks for being cool about it!

to be honest... i dont know why the klein even has an on off switch. i ended up taking the switch off mine and shorted the internal wires together... so that when its plugged into power its always on.

one less switch to contend with.....

^ I agree

BTW got the Klein back from OP and the switch was acting a little funky as he mentioned. I toggled it to the on position and it has been working since. I have since toggled it multiple times trying to recreate the problem and cannot. Didn't even have to open her up.
If I do end up selling it to someone I will probably just replace the switch for good measure.

So to answer the first post here on what to do if the toggle is stuck in off position?
Push it a little harder!

If anyone needs a klein PM me.
