This has been posted previously by ic-racer in his "manual" (thanks for that anyway):

quote: ON/OFF; Controls power to the amplifier. Make sure the standby is "off" before switching on. If the tubes get fed full plate voltage (over 400v) without being warmed up first, there can be damage to the cathode part of the tube. quote end

Is this really: Standby must be set to off when switching on or is this a misunderstanding and the standby switch must be on when switching the power on and only be switched to off (=operational) after the tubes have heated up ?

Sorry for this dumb question but my OTS just arrived yesterday and I do not want to mess it up before I have even found my tone.

I guess if the amp is ON standby then its OFF is you try to play anything. Simply put, if both switches are down, when standing in front of the amp leaning over, pull the right hand power switch UP first followed by the right hand StandBy switch a minute later.

Thanks hywelg

Thinking about it again, this is the only logical explanation anyway, so in fact my question was really from the dumber (not to be confused with "dumbler") side of life...but I cannot guarantee that I wont repeat asking for something that is not clear to me (like the impedance to be choosen if using an extension cabinet etc.  Smiley

The amp and kleinulator did just arrive and I was so far only able to test the functionality of the OTS. It works well and looks great. Shipment to Switzerland was as well swift (within 3 days).  Grin

The normal procedure is:
switching on:
1. both switches to off.
2. turn power to on, leave standby off.
3. After about 30 secs turn standby to on.

Switching off:
1. Switch off standby after turning volumes down.
2. After about 30 secs turn mains/power to off.
Allow 5-10 minutes before moving amp into a colder environment.

Hope this helps.
