Title: JUST GOT IT. CAN'T PLAY IT! Dumb Question?
Post by: Attoneman on August 15, 2008, 04:15:19 AM
Just got my assembled Overtone Special today, and I can't wait to try it out.  BUT, it came with a "240" sticker above the power source input on the back, and the three-prong cord does not have a wall plu on it.  Just bare wire.

Is this normal??  I'm worried they sent me a European version though I live in Sacramento.  I don't want to use one of my power cords on it until I know it's safe, and haven't heard back from Nik all day.

 Anyone???

Better contact Nik.

Check the PT primary tabs... only then you can be sure if it's wrong. Can you post a gut pict...

Isn't it an easy fix to swap it from 240V to 120V? Looking at the schematic, it looks to me like you would just need to unsolder the wire from the 240V tap on the PT and reattach it the the 120V tap...of course if I haven't built one so aren't sure....guys?

A competant tech should be able to swap it over for you.

I did, indeed, get a European version.  Nik said I should resolder to the 120 tap and it's working fine.  Just need to get it dialed in.  Don't have the controls figured out yet, but this forum will help.

Thanks everyone. :)
