Are these the same? Different? How so?

Been curious about this for a little while now.  Lately find myself using the Low input on my HRM more often than not.

Think I may have mostly answered my own question by comparing Owner's Manuals. 

Still not opposed to hearing people's insights, experiences, etc, regarding the different inputs though.
