Title: Hrm or Bluesmaster hrm
Post by: gibsonstandard76 on April 12, 2010, 04:10:11 PM
Hey guy's,

I'm currently looking for an amp. I want a two rock but can't afford it (just like everyone else). Which would come closest to the tone? the hrm bluesmaster, or just the hrm. I want that thick punchy tone like what Matt Schofield has. He seems to have the tone ive been looking for, using a two rock reverb sig. I do realize that a lot of his tone is really digging into the string, which i love doing, but i need something that responds good to it.

I really wish I could just go somewhere (store) to who ever has one and try one out. That would be the ideal thing, but not many people have it.

Here's matt playing on youtube, go to 5:50, That's the tone I'm looking for

Don't want to put you off the idea but Matt has just moved over to a DrZ EZG 50 and a Matchless King Cobra. And he still sounds the same  ;)

Haha ;D yeah I saw that on his site.

But I'm just looking for a 2 channel 50watt head that has a nice full punchy tone.

any suggestions?

I thought he's going steady with the Bludo now?

I can cop Matt's tone with my BM HRM 100w

Its paid for but not arrived yet. He's always been a Super Reverb man really and the EZG50 is very close. He also wanted a much simpler rig and wanted to get away from all the hype surrounding D* clones and the RF comparisons.

Thanks for the reply's

I saw a youtube video of the 100 watt hrm and It was pretty much the tone I wanted, It sounded incredible. What are the differences of the hrm 100 and the Bluesmaster hrm 100? are they drastic?

I would go for HRM... Bluesmaster is more mid scooped sounding amp. You will get more mid content with HRM and mids is what Matts tone is all about isn't it.
Bluesmaster is a bit different animal .... huge bottom, less mids, more raw sounding amp

cool, thanks man. Then I'll probably go for the HRM then. Is there any major difference between the 50 and 100 watt?
