Title: HRM on front panel Post by: hywelg on March 09, 2010, 10:17:53 AM I am thinking ahead and the next amp I am planning on building will be the BM100 HRM. I would very much like to have the HRM TMB controls on the front fascia. Obvious way to do this would be using dual concentric pots but the problem is getting the right values.
I know you can get 250k/250k and 500k/500k for guitars but does anyone know where you can get real good quality dual pots that offer the correct ranges for this amp (25k/20k seems to be the most problematic). I note the BM has 250/25/500 and the hrm stack has 220/20/220 but I guess changing the 220 to 250 wouldn't hurt but a 500/250 might be a problem getting hold of. I'm also planning on pimping my chassis somewhat. Electric blue anodising, anyone know any reason why this might be a bad idea, technically I mean? Any help much appreciated Title: Re: HRM on front panel Post by: bluesfendermanblues on March 09, 2010, 10:43:54 AM I also thought that using pots instead of trimmers would be a brilliant idea.
On my amp the I have put the pots on the bottom o the chassis. They are mounted on a small piece of garolite and the connections to from this little board are as short as if you use the traditional trimmer board. So far so good. However, after doint A LOT of tweaking i finally have the pots adjusted to the tone I like to hear from the amp and now I'm actually 'afraid' to touch the knobs and thereby changing the sound. Therefore, my advise would be to use trimmers instead. More pots will leave you with a complicated science project with a lot of oscillation. However, a blue chassis sounds nice. However, a blue chassis sounds nice. Wait till you see what else I've got planned. :D Light up logo but not anywhere near as plasticky as Matchless. Thats a great idea, check Fuchs web page for inspiration (scroll down to the mid page): http://www.fuchsaudiotechnology.com/products-cabaccessories.php Wait till you see what else I've got planned. :D Light up logo but not anywhere near as plasticky as Matchless. :o :-X 8)Title: Re: HRM on front panel Post by: whoapiglet on April 04, 2010, 04:58:23 PM Any ideas on where I might find an access hatch like Fuchs uses on the post above? I love the idea. I googled electronics access harth, and got nada.
Thanks Title: Re: HRM on front panel Post by: bluesfendermanblues on April 04, 2010, 09:21:54 PM its simply a 9 volt hatch which are used on guitar pedals (like T-REX) and even guitars (like EMG equipped ones) from time to time
Title: Re: HRM on front panel Post by: whoapiglet on April 04, 2010, 11:58:13 PM Thanks!
I'll look for that. It might just be a mod I can actually do! |
