Anyone know what the differences are? The layout isn't available yet. External pics look just like a regular HRM.

Even on ampgarage it's not very clear what the bluesmaster mod is.

There are a few changes to the PI.
1. Replace 820R cathode resistor with 510R (or 470R)
2. Replace 24K tail resistor with 9.1K (or 10K)
3. Replace 6.2K feedback resistor with 100K (or best sounding value between 47K and 100K)
4. Replace 390R PI ground resistor with 4.7K
5. Replace 2K Presence pot with 25K pot (5K or 10K for a brighter amp)
6. Replace 1uF presence cap with 0.1uF

And:
Vol-1MA
Treble-250KA
Mid-25KL-50KL
Bass 250KA-500KA
Drive-250KA
Level-1MA
Master-1MA
Presence-10KL-25KL

NO local neg feedback loop on V1
NO snubbers on V2

OD entrance: is 470K bypassed with 47pf-470pf in series with 120K to 50K-100K trimmer.

OD:
OD1/V2a coupler is .001uf-.002uf in series with 100K

Tonestack:
Treble-250pf-500pf
Mid .022
Bass-.022
Slope-33k-47k

I'm curious about Nik choice's;D

Me too, and to hear what the differences are. I wonder who'll get one first?

I've heard of the Dumble bluesmaster circuit before, but I'm not sure what it is supposed to accomplish. Is it to make the amp more open, with better low gain tones? Is the bluesmaster more in line with a Sonny Landreth type of tone? I guess we will have to wait and see.

I found some info about the bluesmaster circuit on the TAG forum and I hope it's OK, if I post these lines here as well...  :Smiley

Bluesmaster refers to the clean stack and changes in the power amp. The Bluesmaster stack as a little more gain due to its circuit layout. The Bass control is centered around 130 hZ. This gives the bass a softer / spongier feel/attack (to my ears, your ears my be diferent). The middle control centers at around 800 hertz and give a more scooped mid range sound.

The power amp section is roughly the same as a Marshall Plexi (a few component changes). This has reduced negative feedback and gives more PA gain and a large bass response.

The Bluemaster also used a completed different boost arrangement that simply lifts the entire tone stack off of ground. This give a HUGE amount of boost, especially in the lower registers. This boost system also tends to roll the high end off just a little bit (6 to 8 dB) as compared to the bottom end.

When I asked Nik the question this was his response:

"Greg

The Bluesmaster version has a smoother overdrive, but cannot be as
aggressive as the regular HRM.

The difference is values of the components inside the amp, pretty much.

Hope this helps, let me know.

Thanks!

Hi,

The BM does have nicer cleans than the HRM, perhaps.

The OD isnt as aggressive or in your face as HRM. It's a bit smoother, and not as gainy.

The PAB isnt direct to ground, we have added a resistor to it since people want to be boost not that much vs non boost position.

The biggest difference would be the preamp plate values.

And, in our PS, I have changed some resistor values so that the voltages in the preamp are to what I want.

The above, ie the dropping strings, do play a big role in things. Slight tweaks and it can get congested, or another node get voltages that's different than wanted.

Also, I think the BM would be friendly to humbuckers than single coils.

The layout should be out by next week on website.

I think the first BM (100W) went to Japan already.

Thanks!

Nik

Nik,
Would it be possible to get a version which would allow to switch from standard HRM to Bluesmaster HRM, all in the same amp ?

That would be mission impossible.
From the description Bluesmaster is a completely different amp. Tone stack is different, preamp plate values, dropping string PI part as well I guess. You can put all that on a switch.

Just buy both.

I don't know if that's impossible. I know that another manufacturer of D. like amps will include the option to switch from Bluesmaster to Skyliner EQ in a new model, so I just wanted to ask what Nik could offer regarding that.
