Title: Head Cab
Post by: Xavi_Spain on April 18, 2010, 12:23:22 PM
Hi guys, I'm new in this forum.

I have just ordered a S&M to Nik, without the cab and I have an important question:

Where can I find a head cab for an "Overtone Special"
with the typical "Vox grille"???

like this: http://img2.blogs.yahoo.co.jp/ybi/1/ab/f0/kodama702/folder/828978/img_828978_19968571_0?1247295922

Do you know know wich sellers are on the net that offer this??

And the most important, wich of them will ship to Spain??

Thanks a lot people, and best wishes from Spain.

Xavi.

I had Sourmash Cabinets build mine.  I believe he has done others with the Vox grill.  Great guy, great prices, and excellent quality.  You'd have to ask him if he ships to Spain.   http://shop.sourmashguitarcabs.com/

Just go to Tube-Town and select the options you want...

Xavi, why not build your own, these cabs seem quite expensive. Get the Vox type grille cloth if you like, though. There is a guy in the UK who builds similar (Marshall-style) head cabs at under half the price and they are very well made too.

See here http://www.ampmaker.com/cabs-by-chris-1142-0.html

I built my own head cab for my SE5a from 22mm pine which cost £20 including the handle and when I get my Ceriatone I will build one from ash (not volcanic!!!!), which may cost some more.

There are plans here, perhaps you could get a local woodworker to put one together from these specs. :)

Thank you guys!!  :)

I'm glad to be in such a great forum....

First of all, I won't do the cab by myself because I'm not at all with the wood working, and I don't want to piss a great amp with a mediocre cab.  :-[
I want a cab that offers me great garanties, in terms of "well made" and "durabillity".

I send a mail to Sourmash Cabinets telling him the thing.
I'm not sure if they work "custom" (doing what the people want)
or "in serial" (building the cab-designs they want and selling them).---->Could you explain this hipofutura???

My other question is:

When I get the cab ....how are the steps for fixing it with the amp correctly??
                               .....is it difficult??
....Does the seller give me the screws??

Sorry about my ignorance with this.

Thank you one more time guys!!!!!

Xavi.

Sourmash does do custom work.  I have 7 Sourmash cabs.  All built to my specifications.  I drilled the holes to mount my chassis, but Bob at Sourmash could probably drill them for you.  He owns a Ceriatone OTS.  I bought the chassis mount bolts at the local hardware store.

I can post pictures of some of my other Sourmash cabs if you are interested.  They are all beautiful cabinets!

Hey hipofutura!

7 cabs... wow!!!

Sourmash have response to my mail few minutes ago and they can do the cab.

Do you know how long it takes the building  and the delivery, aproximately???

I'm gonna order it this week, probably.

I think it will be nice if you post the photos of your Sourmash cabs.... maybe you would help other people with his choice.

Thanks a lot.

Xavi.

Congratulations on your choice.  I believe you'll be as thrilled as I am with the quality and beauty of your cab.  It takes about two weeks for them to build and ship the cab.  I don't know how long it will take to ship to Spain.

Here are a few pics of a few of my Sourmash cabs:

The head from Nik should come with the mounting hardware.  you can have bob at sourmash pre-drill the holes if you want him to.

Xavi,
it took about 4 weeks for me to get my cab from bob at sourmash.  Still waiting for the HRM50/Dlator from Nik, will post a pic when it's put together.  I am pleased with the cab I ordered from bob.
