Hello,
I was wondering if anyone could give me a few tips to make the clean tone on my Overtone a bit more blackface like?? Any tips on like cap changes or something simalar. Thanks so much everyone.

Well maybe changing plate/cathode values would bring you closer to Fender tone. V1 100K plate, 1K5/10uF cathode and V2 150K, 2K2/10uF just like famous #124 amp... but remember that will change your OD tone as well.

To me, OTS clean sounds just right... but that's just me.

With my amp/speaker combination messing around with the toggles and lowering the mid and treble gets me closer to a blackface sound.

Off the top of my head - rock jazz, deep off/down, bright on/up...  treble 3 or 4, mids on 2ish and bass up as far as suits you - 7 or 9.  Also, start with the master on less than 1 so that you're driving the clean ch hard.  It never really breaks up but it seems to do the job. 

It's not a BF but it has done the job for me on more than one occassion.  It will depend on how much bottom end your speaker box can prduce too.

Comparing the OTS to a Fender 'Blackface' in the clean department,  I`d think you`d have to get a good reverb unit happening on the OTS first.
Quite a big part of the blackface character is due to the classic reverb in the mix.

I`ve owned a super reverb & twins too and if you dial out the reverb, alot of what you hear changes. Maybe not sonically, but the overall character does alter.

My OTS sounds great and more fender like than anything else, but the OTS really does have its own thing happening in the cleans department and I do believe it`s probably a better tone than a Blackface clean,.. if you have a decent reverb unit on-board..!

The OTS has more transperancey to its cleans than a Fender in my opinion and the definition of the bass, mid & trebles are more pronounced and refined compared to the Blackface I think.

If you just love Fender BF cleans and reverb,.. then best you get one of those models and maybe drive it with a D-mble like OD pedal ie:  Zen Drive or the Okko 'TwinSonic'...!!

The speaker you use can have a big effect on your clean tone. I am using a Jensen C12K out of a '65 Twin RI. I'm very happy with the cleans as the speaker has a very full bottom end and nice crisp highs. The mids are a bit shelved.  I have the speaker in an open back cab and that may have an effect also.
     I am, however, going to change some caps and resistors to get back to the specs of #124 because I bought the amp to get as close to that "D" tone as possible. When I got around to ordering my kit, the main board had been altered significantly and I struggle to get real close. I've already added a "deep" switch, put a 15pF cap on the MV and am ready to make the changes on the main board mentioned in an earlier post on this thread. After all... we bought this amp to get as "real Dumble" as we can...right? Once I change some stuff on the board, I may have to change speakers. 8)
