Hi Guys

Do any of you play a guitar with EMG's thought the OTS?

Satisfied?
I have a strat with EMG's (humbuckers with coil splitter and Single Coil) and it doesn't sound to good.

EMG's are great for distorted tones a la lukather and nice for 80's direct-in-pult funky rythm sounds as heard on michael jackson records of the area.

However, not the route to great blues sounds and the like.

Didn't Larry Carlton use EMG's on his Valley Arts Strat-style?  If so, I'd say that's a pretty damn GREAT blues tone.  Prince uses them, too, and his tone is MASSIVE.  I'm not 100% on this, but EMG's always struck me as "hi-fi" sounding, so you may need to do some serious tweaking with the OTS to get 'em sounding just right.  Good luck!

yeh i had the emg DG-20 set. when clean they were just really really clean, like sterile clean if you get me. the neck p/up was real nice and bluesy = shine on, 94 pulse. they're great p/ups no doubt but for a vintage sound they dont have that mojo - too hi-fi i spose as bobgoblin said. depends on your tastes but i would never describe them as sounding bad so i doubt its just the p/ups.

i thought they handled effects really well as well. yeh the mid boost control was great, def gave the p/ups a bit of oomph which they lacked without the boost.

actually  still have the full DG-20 set if anyone is interested.
