Title: Fender VM or Supersonic 2x12 Cab with OTS...
Post by: AdrianJ on July 04, 2009, 06:29:39 PM
So I'm trying to get an idea of how much I need to budget for my complete setup when I finally put in an order for an OTS and I'm trying to decide on what speaker cabinet to go for.

The 2 that appeal to me are the Fender VM Bandmaster or Fender Supersonic 2x12" cabinets, I especially like that I could at a later time buy another one and stack them one atop the other to get a 4x12" configuration...

Both have Celestion speakers, but neither has the G12-65's I've been reccomended to choose. The VM cabinet has a pair of G12-80's and the Supersonic a pair of  Vintage 30's, does anyone know whether either of these is suited to the OTS.

I'll be going for a 50W HRM Bluesmaster and using primarily a Strat to get John Mayer and Matt Schofield type tones...

I can't answer your qustion because I'm still building my amp. However, I have just picked up a used cab by Port City a 1x12 wave cabinet loaded with celestion vintage 30. It sounds great with my 2 stroke amp build especially with my strat.

Because it's a closed back and ported cab it gives more bottom end which is good because sometimes a strat can sound pretty trebbly.

Well
I have just finished my overtone HRM and have been trying out speakers V30. G12M, G12H , EVM 12L and emminence governor (v30clone).
based on what sounds most articulate and least fizz . then THE G12H sounds best followed by evm12L   g12m is good but only 25watts so cutting it close for gigs. v30 and governor to my ears dont suit this amp
as they are very middy. better for rock amps . I also would like to try G12 -65M as this seems favourite amongst Dumble type amp players.
