Title: Eminence speakers Post by: hywelg on January 05, 2009, 11:31:15 PM I've been thinking about what to pair with a g12-65 in a 2x12, thinking of going with a Celestion vintage 30, but there seem to be quite a few Eminence speakers on eBay Uk at the moment, the problem is there are so many different models. I know the Texas HEat and red White and Blue are well respected, but there are few of those about, so does anyone know much about all the other models?
I know Pickmaster put this link up a while ago http://www.woodys-guitar-world.co.uk/listen.htm (http://www.woodys-guitar-world.co.uk/listen.htm) and there's some useful info there but not all models unfortunately. Could do with some more info since they seem to be very well priced at the moment. Title: Re: Eminence speakers Post by: jezzbo on January 06, 2009, 06:35:09 AM Until last week I played my OTS through a 2X12 with celestion G12H and a greenback (G12M) The sound was ok but not great so I thought the OTS wasn't really for me. (or should be tweaked ;D ) Last week I received my Eminence RWB speaker and put it in a 1X12 open back cab. WOW what a sound difference! Really this speaker sounds really great with this amp. Round bass, complex middle and very nice smooth yet sparkle top end. Can't wait till it's played in. I used to have a fender Deluxe clone (5E3) with a Eminence Cannabis Rex speaker, that also sounded very nice. (traded this amp for a gorgious strat) So high quality with emi's. Don't know about their other speakers yet. but I'm gonna build me a few more cabs. Another 1X12 (with texas heat speaker) and a 4X10 (with 2x Ragin Cajun and 2X copperhead) ;D Title: Re: Eminence speakers Post by: jezzbo on January 06, 2009, 06:37:09 AM Oh yeah I forgot to mention that I also owned a Redfang speaker. (for my DC30 clone)
But to my taste it was a bit to raunchy. (didn't play it in though) Title: Re: Eminence speakers Post by: hywelg on January 06, 2009, 11:54:53 AM All thats very useful thanks. All the speakers that are around on eBayUK are the ones I have no reports for!
I'll keep looking for an RW&B or a Texas Heat I think Title: Re: Eminence speakers Post by: René F on January 06, 2009, 01:05:31 PM I use a eminence Cannabis Rex with my OTS... I think it sounds great, it especially enhanced the fenderish of the clean channel... But it also fits well with the OTS OD channel...
Like all speakers it needs a litte breaking in :) You can check out a soundclip of my OTS where the cannabis is miced with a sm57 at the soundclip section either here at the forum or on ceriatones website Regards René Title: Re: Eminence speakers Post by: Jonathan on January 06, 2009, 07:12:04 PM I have a pair of Eminence Cannabis Rex speakers I had in a Fender Hot Rod Deville. They sounded so good. Im going to use one of them in my OTS 1x12 cab. I cant wait.
Title: Re: Eminence speakers Post by: JohnE on January 06, 2009, 08:03:51 PM Just put an Eminence Wizard into a Avatar 1 x12 cube style, closed-back cabinet. I knew that the Wizard was a great sounding speaker before hand , but I was really surprised at how good the OTS sounded through it. I usually play the OTS through an Avatar open-back 2 x12 with a G12h30 and V30 which sounded great to my ears. I believe this Wizard/Closed back Cab sounds even better. It has a very nice woody "thunk" on the lower register and is very smooth in the upper register. The Wizard is also a very efficient speaker (103dB) making it noticeably louder than most speakers (for equivalent amp output wattage) and its rated at 75W, so it would make a very good choice for someone looking to have a 1 x12 set-up for their OTS.
Title: Re: Eminence speakers Post by: Pickmaster on January 07, 2009, 05:17:17 PM Hi guys,
I strongly suggest to try Jensen TORNADO neos and FANE AXA 12 alnico in closed back 1x12 or 2x12. Especially if you have 100w OTS. Also try Jensen 1X15 NEO or 1x15 Eminence Legend. In the future I have to order 100w OTS to build 1X15 combo – much biger tone than 1x12 combo and almost same size. I have the Jensen Neo 100 and also an Eminence Neo speaker, both sound similar although the Jensen may sound a little darker. Im still making up my mind which one to use.

While I only used the clean channel and a little tube screamer, I was much impressed.Title: Re: Eminence speakers Post by: Pickmaster on January 08, 2009, 08:29:06 PM Hi Pickmaster Have you tried the Jensen Neo 100 and compared it to the Tornado. Hi nitPicker, No, I have not. Never tried eminence neos either, but compared Tornado and Celestion Century and Tornado was more bassy and little bit darker. I’m still in love with my 2x12 with Centuries in it but thinking to replace one with the Tornado. Title: Re: Eminence speakers Post by: Kemmons on July 29, 2009, 02:37:58 AM I put a ToneSpotter in 1980 Fender Deluxe (open-back obviously) and I really like it. It has great articulation in the low end which was missing from the JBL I had in it. The JBL was mushy. The Emi has nice balance and clarity in the lows, mids, and highs. I am very pleased with the ToneSpotter.
Title: Re: Eminence speakers Post by: Deafcat on August 19, 2009, 01:05:57 PM I just replaced my Celestions with one Eminence Texas Heat and one Eminence Man-O-War. Man what a difference. The mids of this pair of speakers really make the HRM sing. The bottom end is nice, big and defined. The highs at first are kind of rough but once they are broken in the highs smooth out and are very, very nice.
