Title: Desperately need some OTS help! (settings) Post by: skydog on April 22, 2009, 01:32:48 PM OK, so I got in over my head. I recently procured a used OTS and I am lost. My first amp was a Fender Champ followed by a Siegmund MS that I absolutely love. Both of these were for the most part "plug and play". Now comes the big jump to the OTS and way too many decisions. I should say this came with a Kleinulator also so that complicates things. I know tone is subjective, different strokes, etc.. But I need some suggestions for just getting started. Oh, and this has the Zucker/Lerner mods? If some experienced users could list some suggested settings for southern rock/blues tones I would greatly appreciate it. I know I should be able to come up with this myself and probably could if I spent enough time at it. The trouble is time is in short supply right now! Thanks for any help guys and sorry for the ramble.

Single coil pickups? try this http://home.kpn.nl/s.scholten17/rig2.jpg My Klein is the same as a regular one. a frined of mine put it in a 19 inch rack. Erwin_ve suggested to roll back on the return of the Kleinulator a bit (about 3 oclock). Use the Klein recovery to control your overall volume. Also there is a pot inside the amp: the OD trimmer. That's an important feature of this amp. You can do a search on the forum and you'll find some usefull info on where to find it and some tips on the settings. I use 9.30 you could also try setting everything on the amp to 5 (12 oclock) and start tweaking to taste from there. Hope this helps. oh yeah one last thing. The volume of the clean channel has an effect on the OD channel as well! Title: Re: Desperately need some OTS help! (settings) Post by: hywelg on April 22, 2009, 02:45:30 PM For now unless you absolutely have to have FX in your loop, forget the Klein, just use the amps clean channel and find what you like. Then work on the OD channel , they are interdependant. The trimmer is the key. If you have a good amp tech have him move it to the rear panel, makes life loads easier. It is a very easy mod.
You can also mix and match your valves. If you want a really nice clean OD channel substitute a 5751 in V2. Also bear in mind that the clean channel loves pedals, so if you want a MArshall sound I'd recommend an Xotic BB. Clean boosts and light overdrive will also give you lots of options. The Klein effect (on its own) is very subtle so I'd recommend getting used to the amp first. |
