Title: Cabinet Plans? Dimensions?
Post by: tele_player on November 01, 2007, 05:52:02 AM
My kit isn't here yet, but I'd like to see dimensions for the chassis, and plans for a simple cabinet. I'll do it myself when the chassis gets here.

Chassis dimensions are 19.25 x 8 x 2.5.   Once I get mine I will build a head cab in the traditional Fuchs, Two Rock....etc style.  I will post those plans.  Also, a combo cab is pretty easy as well.  Here is a wide body combo I threw together for my D'Lite.  (on the left)

Nice job on the cabinet. I too opted for the "bare" chassis as I build speaker cabinets on the side so it shouldn't be too hard to build a simple "D" style head cabinet out of finger jointed pine when the chassis arrives.

Thanks for the dimensions

 :)

Hello,

  Great!

  The dims are correct.

Do note that each side of the chassis, there are screw heads jutting out.

As such, more than 19.25" is needed. Perhaps 19.375" inside dims.

Or the chassis can be redrilled to act as counter sink at these screw holes.

On my cab, we have the aluminum pcs on the sides, so it allows for some space.

Will have pics soon! Well, I do, but at the office. Will post.

Thanks!

Nik

Chris, nice work man!  What's the story behind the "August" badges?  I love that name (that's my birthday month)
But...there is something major wrong with the guitar beside the amp...it's...it's....backwards!  How did that happen? ;)

What are your thoughts now of the D'lite versus the Overtone?

JeffreyB,

Ah..the August logos...lol.  I build these cabs for customers here in Japan and I was trying to decide on a name for my little hobby business.  August lasted for a month or two....sorry...and I have since settled on a different name.
Backwards.....!?!  Bite your tongue!!....Lefty power.....lol.  How did it happen??  A very stupid decision when I about 12 years old!!!!!

That is a Honduras mahogany body strat I built a few years ago.  Even amongst my higher end guitars it remains one of my tone favorites.

I've pretty much given up on the view of D'lite VS Overtone.  They are both great amps and I use both side by side for gigs now.,,one for clean one for OD.  I decide which will be which by flipping a coin...seriously.

I'm almost finished a very puuurty head and 1x12 cab for the Overtone.  I'll post pics this weekend.

Another noob question, how does the chassis mount in the cab, it is like a bassman, and if so do you buy the long bolts or does Nik supply those.
19.25X8X2.5? that last measurement should be? 12.5?
Nice job too Chris

If it's a Blackface Bassman then yes... except 8 bolts.

 The bolts are supplied.

No, it is 2.5 in.  Remember this is just the chassis height.

Those cabs are long gone.....newer, prettier versions now.  And the name of my little hobby cab building business is B Point Amplification.   ;)

Thanks Chris and I guess I should have known that 2.5 was for the amp chassis- ::)

Hello..
I'm building the cab for the 5f6-A bassman, I hope I can use your measurement without problem.
The question is another: in your opinion what is the better speaker configuration for that head?
I'm tinking to mount one or two speaker instead of four... but I need help about speaker dimension impedance etc..
thank you

Thank goodness threads like this are still existing. It gave me a beautiful idea on how to cage my own chassis. I like the white motif of the cabinets, a big difference from the usual dark ones.
