Title: C-LATOR inside amp ??
Post by: jubeman on April 21, 2011, 09:08:59 PM
Hi everybody

This may have been asked , but before I pester Nik. some opinions. I have tried my Brothers  C-Lator and like it . but I want to build it into the bottom of my 50w Hrm , to stop the cable runs and carrying an extra unit around (i use 2 amps already) I seen the post where Nik has built the C-lator unit into the amp but for me I would prefer to keep the look of my amp as is . So could I ditch the casing that comes with the C-lator and build it into the bottom of my amp . or would there be screening issues or any other issues ?? . I would appreciate any opinions

thanks

Not alot of room in there for it, plus you would need to punch a hole for the tube and find a place for the knobs and transformer. You could easily build a head cab or combo cab with the clator on top and build a lil support shelf for the amp chassis. I plan on doing this and having the chassis on drawer rails so i can slide it in and out easier

It can be done.

Yup, that's what i'm gonna be building, but with the clator on top. I could be wrong, but i think the OP was wanting to know if the clator could be mounted inside the amp chassis itself, not the cab

Sorry guys

I Must explain myself better, I do not mean within the amp as there is little room as there is . I mean in the space at the bottom of the amp like Zeeman has done omny I do not wish to have the C-lator visable from the front as I want my amp to look as it is just now. hope that helps

I think the C-lator in the enclosure is something you want to keep considering. From a protection from noise and damage point of view. I would some how figure a way to work it into the back somehow. With the knobs facing out the back. I don't know if there is room to slide it in the head cab or not. If it is, that's what I would consider. You would have to connect the cables in the back of the C-lator first.

You can easily put a C-lator into a smaller metal box and put it into the bottom of your head cab. Even inside the chassis if you are crafty.......

if there is room at the bottom of the head cab, to mount it facing backwards then you could do it. there is certainly enough room in my 2x12 combo for it. do you use yours as a global master? it seems like it would be kind of pain to access if that is the case?

Yep that sounds like what I need , thanks . Once it is set with my settings then I probably wont need to touch it

Cool ok now to look for a box , thanks Guys
