Title: bit dissapointed
Post by: hans on February 11, 2009, 08:25:26 PM
After playing my OTS(normal)for a month now i can say it's NOT a super amp or even a real good amp.
It'sounds no beter than a other amp in this price-range.The overdrive channel is the biggest dissapointmend, where is the creamy sustain i heared on the various samples?Only with a couple of stomp
boxes in front of it it sounds oke,but nothing special.
Mayby i got a bad one(it was delivered within two weeks after ordering, returned one?)

How long within that month have you had the amp actually ON. This amp needs a good burn in.

Leave it ON, not just on standby with master at least 12:00 and both volumes 3:00 for 48 hours. then try it again.

Also a Kleinulator (or suitable Dumbleator equivalent) makes a tremendous addition.  Frankly it makes the difference for me in no likey without and definately love it with a klein and a little reverb or delay.  Mmmmmm good!

Your profile says your from The Netherlands. I'll be glad to check it for you, you can compare it to mine (which is sounding really good).

Hmm lost a previous post it seems
I think most of us waited for 12 weeks for the amp.

Lots if things you can try:
- burn in the tubes
- set the OD trimmer to 9-9.30 (see other posts on this)
- Different tubes
- Use the Kleinulator fx loop

The diffenrent volume and gain settings all work together. Try setting all volume and gain levels to 4  (Rock= on, Deep = off , bright = off) and start tweaking from there
also if you use an effect in the loop kake sure the levels are set ok. I hardly ever use the power bnoost switch.

Some guitars just don't sound that good on this amp

I hoop dat je hier wat aan hebt
Groeten
Steven

Yeah, the important thing is to familiarize yourself with the ins and outs of dialing in a D*mble style amp (the controls definitely don't act/interact the way they often do on many other amps).  All of those tones from clips should be available from your amp

Good friend of mine sold wife, beloved dog and left leg to buy real Dumble!
He’s got it and now moans that it sounds nothing like a Robben Ford’s Dumble!!!
He can’t buy Robbens hands and head.
Sorry mate, just joking! I’m slightly drunk. ;)

Oke,i let the amp burnning in for 15 hours and its a bit better now,it's mayby more honest if the boys from the wel known clips tell us what kind of effects they use to get there sounds.

Just think of it this way... a wast majority of people are more than satisfied with this amp, so if you're after the D-tone, this amp will provide it for you no doubt. If you don't know exactly what you want in the first place, than it's possible this amp is not for you.
It is also possible that your amp need a touch here and there, so take erwins offer and go see him.

 ;)
