Title: Any plans for a Dumblator? Post by: jake on February 16, 2008, 01:48:18 PM To make the loop work right? Are there any other mods for the loop?
If not, what are people doing to make it work it's best? Title: Re: Any plans for a Dumblator? Post by: JeffreyB on February 17, 2008, 12:33:50 AM What's wrong with the loop? I haven't tried mine yet.
Title: Re: Any plans for a Dumblator? Post by: jake on February 17, 2008, 01:33:11 AM It's passive and I am not saying anything is "wrong" but the Dumble (passive too) uses an outboard buffered loop gizmo so you can use rack effects.
On that note I have talked to Lyle Caldwell and he has a simple passive/buffered loop mixer that lets you parrellel rack effects. I'll most likely try one of those. I am also kicking around doing a wet/dry effects set up BUT that's way more gaer to deal with. The Cladwell loop mixer looks the easiest. Title: Re: Any plans for a Dumblator? Title: Re: Any plans for a Dumblator? Post by: jake on March 03, 2008, 03:02:12 AM as I mentioned Lyle Caldwell has a unit that would/will work.
Here's his contact info http://www.psionicaudio.com/main/index.htm Lyle has done a couple of jobs/mods for me. He does excellent work. Title: Re: Any plans for a Dumblator? Post by: ChrisL on March 03, 2008, 04:52:39 AM I have a spare Ironsounds buffered loop board set here I've been thinking of trying to impliment into the Overtone. I have one in my D'lite and it works very well. The Overtone is pretty low on real estate so I may have to experiment with an external mount.
However, the stock loop seems to be fine with the effects I'm using in the loop using as short as possible patch cables. Title: Re: Any plans for a Dumblator? Post by: JeffreyB on March 03, 2008, 05:46:22 AM Chris....have you posted any sound clips? I'd love to hear the D'Lite.

You say he already has something that'll work? That'd be ideal. Title: Re: Any plans for a Dumblator? Hi Jeff, No, no clips... :-[ One of these days I promise. My recording setup just isn't doing it for me. I've come to the conclusion that the Fasttrack USB interface is a POS. So right now anything I record sounds nothing like the goodness of the OT and D'lite. I picked up a Zoom H4 a while back but haven't really used it that much yet. FWIW the D'lite is a fabulous amp that is raved about by an evergrowing community of great players and is really nice to have side by side with the Overtone. The only effect I use is a DD20 and I can't find any serious degredation in tone at the standard settings for a gig. That said, I don't usually use effects in the loop of my main amp at a gig because I run a simple dry/wet rig. Title: Re: Any plans for a Dumblator? Post by: jake on March 04, 2008, 01:40:18 AM Chris, care to elaborate on the wet/dry? Where do you get your signal, mic pre or?
Title: Re: Any plans for a Dumblator? Post by: ChrisL on March 04, 2008, 02:48:00 AM It's rather simple these days.
I used to use a rig similar to Larry C. or Eric J. of mic into a small mixer (effects in) and 200w amp into two JBL 12 inch 2way speakers. Now (and I think it sounds surprisingly good) I use a Weber MASS 50 which has an EQed variable line out into a DD20 Delay and then into the effects return on a Traynor ycv40wr with a 1x12 extension cab. Once a balance is set for wet/dry with the volume and eq on the MASS the volume on the dry amp controls both. A little verb from the Traynor and a bit of delay with the separated 2x12's in conjuction with the dry amp makes for a huge, clear sound. |
