FYI Custom stacked pots

Found this site the other day.

They will make stacked pots to your requirements. I was looking to be able to build the HRM tone stack into the front panel with no mods to the faceplate. Knobs would be a problem, it seems you can only get the knurled metal ones for this style of pot.

Not ready to pull the trigger yet on these as I cant justify another OTS at the moment. Not ruled out converting my OTS to HRM though, just to get some control over the OD channel tone.

I have installed pots on the bottom of the chassis (under the component borad) of my HRM.

Truth of the matter is that once you have found the sweet spot for the pots, you don't want to mess with them. In fact I plan on changing the pots to trimmers placed inside the chassis.

I would advise you to try an ordinary hrm board inside the chassis and see if you can 'live' with that.
Also you are at risk of getting af noisy amp if you have the HRM at the front with long wires to the board.

I know what you're saying, but I do use my amp in two distinctly different ways. With a set of single coils I run it with very low OD level, trimmer at 9:00 to get a 'pushed' clean sound. For this I want less mids and more top end. With a H/B I like to get the classic Dumble OD sound so the trimmer goes up to 9:30-10:00 and the level also higher. For this I want to roll off the top end quite a lot and boost the mids.

The issue of noise is not likely to be a problem I think. The cable runs to the pots are shorter than for the clean side tone stack, and could be even shorter by moving the HRM board.

Allow me to share control settings:

What you do with the OD trim, I tend to do with the input volume (and tone controls) instead:

I primarily use the amp with singlecoil pickups.
Input vol at 7
(front panel) tone controls all at 5 and Presence at 5

However, when my band mate uses the amp with his Gibson 335 (with PAF 57 pickups),
Input vol at 4 (like Robben)
tone controls: Treble 7, mid 4, Bass 4 and Presence at 7

OD trim is set at 25-26K and OD Drive (on front panel) is almost always at 4

i was considering duplicating the entire clean channel in the amp... and using dual pots to keep the front panel tidy. maybe one day.....reason being that way i can have independent settings for the clean and OD settings
