Title: Alnico 1265 Weber...? Post by: Bluestone on May 10, 2014, 11:22:01 PM Hi there... I see the Weber 1265 alnico has been discussed in some detail already, but has anyone tried it as the sole speaker with the standard OTS..?
I`m certainly looking at trying one in my 1x12 50 watt OTS combo. Apparently the larger dust screen cap helps defuse and smooth treble frequencies. I feel the OTS could do with some reduction in the treble frequency. It doesn`t have a piercing treble.. just prominent, so I run the treble pot quite low. Weber gives the option of paper or hemp cone when ordering.... hemp could be interesting for a darker tone..! Anyone tried the hemp cone speakers in their OTS...? I`m looking for a smooth, fat, musical tone with reduced treble response from the speaker. Perhaps the Tone Tubby hemp cone red Alnico could also be interesting.. although it`s a 50 watt speaker, where as the Weber is 65 watts. Cheers... and thanks... Title: Re: Alnico 1265 Weber...?
