I forgot to add that at the gig, there was something seriously weird going on with the clean tone. It sounded like there was something very wrong with it. Turning off the mid boost did help a little though. It was out doors so I cranked it a bit but really not that loud - probably about the same volume as my DRRI at about 3 1/2.

I would say that a few things are normal, but some seem odd, although it's hard to tell based on your descriptions. The volume jump I think is pretty normal. Mine does this too. As far as the play in the push/pull pot...have you made sure that the set screw is tight? The push pull pots aren't the most solid of "feel" pots, but pretty normal for the type and quality of those used.

When you say say the amp "fires back on" do you mean that the "ON" light come back on or are you talking about the way the power caps discharge when turning the amp off? Have you played tube amps before?

The part about going silent when changing channels doesn't seem normal. Was the mains power from a good source? I'm not sure what this might be.

The knob things sound fairly normal - I've also got a bit of wiggle on the first volume knob, and the sudden on thing that you mention doesn't sound bad, although it can be annoying until you get used to it.

The amp does this odd cap discharge thing when you turn it off, the obvious solution if it annoys you is to turn down the guitar before powering off.

The other stuff does sound wrong, and may require some attention. The going silent part - first I'd make sure that everything in the signal chain is working reliably, then see if you can reproduce the problem with a minimal setup - I.E. play for an hour with just the guitar and a reliable cord, and one speaker, no effects, and see if the problem occurs when switching channels - and make a note of which channel switch causes the problem.

The mid boost switch clean channel problem - not a clue.

As for turning it off, you'd indeed hear the caps discharging, and the relays resetting. This is normal

As for the CTS push pull pots indeed they are like that. In our new OTS design, we will no longer use any push pull CTS pots. We'd toggle switch everything.

As for the clean channel issue, I think it's either the preamp tubes, which you can just swap around to see if it changes things

if not, you do need to open it up, or bring to a tech. The OD relay could have been semi-lifted from the socket, and can indeed cause this issue as well.

I just realized this thread is the same amp as the other thread I have been replying to. What Nik said about the OD relay lifting from the socket is a good point. I forgot that they're socketed. In fact I put a bit of RTV Silicone to hold them in place.

I'm really starting to think this amp might have gotten a good knock in shipping.
