Guys-
thought I'd post a quick review of the 'Dumble Book' by Jesse Schwarz as here on the Overtone page we're all pretty obsessed with THAT tone, am I right?
Well I was very lucky that I won this book as part of a UK based Guitarist magazine competition, as the retail price is currently 149.99 euros + shipping!
(Thanks again guys!)
http://www.dumblebook.com/page1/page1.htmlBut, to be fair it really has a wealth of excellent pictures & discusses much of the myth & folklore surrounding the great man... However, there's virtually no technical explanation to to how he achieves those fabled tones, in fact the author goes out of his way to avoid any detailed analysis & indeed blocks out the few circuit board pictures from prying eyes. Understandable given the litigious society we live in these days no doubt!
Mr Dumble is well known for being almost a hermit & is very shy - and very few interviews exist- however all are faithfully re-printed here, including some very rare pictures & translated un-published text from German reviews from way back in the 1980's... and of course the infamous USA Guitar Player interview that started my own personal intrigue and interest in all things Dumble way back. Sadly, I know I'll never own one of these amps unless a lottery win is just around the corner,
however, this book gave me some real insight into the man & legend that is THAT tone...
