Title: 3rd channel on OTS
Post by: Pickmaster on July 15, 2008, 08:48:13 PM
Hi guys,

Here is a diagram for the Plexi-Hi gain channel. It is footswitchable  and has gain control and tone (high cut) control 3 position switch.
I removed FET board and I’m using a FET input hole for gain potentiometer.
3 position switch is on the rear panel in the “full / half” hole.

hi, that looks very interesting. I seem to be able to dial in a pretty marshally tone already, can you tell me what differences it made for you? thanks,Mike

Hi Mike,

Difference is that I have THREE knob footswitch which gives me:
1.   Clean
2.   Clean + Boost
3.   Dumbly Overdrive
4.   Overdrive + boost
5.   High gain drive
6.   High gain + Boost = shred.

It is just more colour on the palette when you need it.

that sounds like it would be amazing. And your still using 6l6s? I take it you need to get a different footswitch? You know someones gonna ask you for some soundclips. thanks again, you really got my curiosity going. Mike

I couldn't seem to get the sound samples to work.  This would be a great mod.  I'm tempted to give it a try as I would love to have some more gain in this already awesome amp.  Nice cabinet.  I'm in the process of building mine, and the idea of the ventilation on the bottom and fan is a good thought.  What kind of fan did you use, what's the placement, and all?

Thanks for listening my friend, cheers.

Hi,
It Is 240v mains fan, has 2k, 25watt resistor on it to slow it down (less noise).
It sits on the grill under the power transformers and power valves.

Just buy a zendrive and use that as your 3rd channel!

Hi Jack,
I have two: ;) zen and zen2 tube. Don't like them! no way they can produce a distortion like this http://www.drika.biz/chign.mp3
or this http://www.drika.biz/cplexi.mp3

Also I disconnected PAB circuit which is useless(for me)  in OTS and created much more simple and powerful boost which does not change the tone
You can hear it on this sample at 2,24min. http://www.drika.biz/cityblue.mp3

About pedals: I tried probably most of them – from Zen to Ethos  and only two staid with me so far, moded Tone Pump by Barber and king of all pedals moded Koch Pedaltone – 4 tube 5 channel monster preamp.

Cheers
