Title: Power filtering question (maybe?) Post by: mikemck on November 18, 2007, 01:56:06 PM I guess this forum has yet to pick up steam, but here goes anyway...
When I play a C# or D on the high E string (9th or 10th fret) I hear a note two octaveslower than the one I'm playing. Since note played would be about 600 Hz (IOW, right on the 5th harmonic of 120 Hz) I suspect it has something to do with power supply filtering. If that's the case, why would I only hear this when I'm playing that C#? Wouldn't I hear a hum all the time? And what would be the fix, besides re-designing the whole power filtering section? I don't understand much about it but there have been reports of Matchless (original) DC30's having the same problem. Apparently it gets quite bad in some amps... it's like having ghost notes shadowing your playing.
It will be interesting to see if any of the Ceriatone DC/HC30's (or other models as in your case) have the same problem. Title: Re: Power filtering question (maybe?) I had never heard it myself with mine when I owned one but there is definitely those who swear it happens. I would like to know more about this phenomenon myself.
