Could this amp be used for "kill em all" type sounds using only a tube screamer?

I don't think so. 

Hetfield use a Rat for KEA, which would help a lot more than a TS, but even then I don't think it's the right amp.

* Not a lot of gain on tap
* Slow attack on the note because of the rectifier sag
* Loose bottom end do to weak filtering

The JTm-45 really sits in that "blues rock" groove.  There is a reason the Plexi/JMP overshadows it for a rock amp...faster attack on the note; tighter and more focused; punchier tighter low end; for high end cut through the mix; etc.
