Title: Just finished building JCM800...
Post by: mcinku on July 29, 2011, 07:51:08 PM
Not a kit from Nik... just chassis, faceplate and empty board came from Nik

Had to improvise a little,... cause I couldn't get those special caps Nik gets from somewhere...

I think it turned out quite well...

That looks good man
Which caps are you talking about?
Fun building a Marshall after having built OTS eh? A little more elbow room

I couldn't get a 50/50 axial type filter cap... so I just went with another 50/50 Can type JJ cap.

I thought building this amp would be a piece of cake but you know with populating the board and soldering the wire leads... it took some effort after all.

Nice thick tone man.  8) Definitely getting that AC/DC tone
One of these days I may have to build that model myself!

Ahhh, sounds good. Liked the little "money for nothing" riff.

What speaker(s) are you playing through?

Also those trafos are super polished.

BTW...
This amp was built for this ampfest we are organizing here locally... and this amp is a main prize. The guy or girl who will win it, will have to play one of those riffs, just to prove that he/she deserves it.

Very nice build, great sound as well. Its funny how little components it appears to have on the board for such a great sounding amp.

At the end this amp found a box to live in...

...and the new owner is ecstatic about it.

It's been a while since I've been here.
So just to reuse this thread... I've built another JCM800 and this time it has a buffered tube driven loop as well...
