Hi,
I live in the US and just got a 2550 kit from Nik. Didn't want to spent a ton in shipping so I am now shopping for the trannies locally. On the cheap side but within quality what you you guys recommend for trannies?

Thanks,
Peter

Hey Peter -
Probably a good place for you to start would be with an email to these guys. I would send them a brief email about what amp you bought, the type of music you play, and a little about yourself as far as skill level, do you gig, do you record, etc. Not a short story, but just some info to give them an idea of your needs.
It sounds like you would be good with a drop in replacement from Hammond or MC. But, whatever...... Do not hesitate to ask them questions. Just because their web-sight does not list a certain tranny does not mean they do not have one. You get the gist.........
Good Luck

Thanks! I think I will go with Classic Tone. In fact that was the only one I had considered now you just added to my decision!

So, will the Classic tone 50W JCM 800 power trannie work with the 2550?

Yes, it will "work", but I do not know how close it is to what Marshall put in the original 2550 (is that what a Jubilee is?) Transformers seem so simple, but they are a pretty complex piece of equipment, with a lot of variables. Maybe get on the Marshall forum and see what those guys have to say about an OT for your amp. Or, like I say, email some of those tranny winders and see if they make a real 2550 transformer
Good Luck

Good to hear!!!!
There are so many options other than Merc Mag. Their prices are silly in my opinion, but they have a lot of advertising to pay for. TDS, Hammond, Edcor, Magnetic Component, Triad, and others. Merc Mag would be my last choice, just based on price alone.
Anyway....
Good Luck and Enjoy
