Title: 2550 volume drop Post by: jimR8 on September 23, 2010, 01:51:31 PM I;ve had the 2550 (Built by Nik) for a few months now. Just started to notice that after I play for approx. a half hour, the volume drops. There are no buzzing or other sounds, just the volume drop.
Is it the tubes already? I don't play that much and at low volumes. Any thoughts? Thanks Title: Re: 2550 volume drop Post by: jimR8 on September 23, 2010, 10:21:52 PM Tone, thanks for the response. I play mine through a Marshall 1960 (4) 12"s. Speakers are standard issue 75's. It's an awesome sound. Kind of a one trick pony, but if that just on the edge of break-up with a lot of harmonics is what you like, this is for you.
I spent a lot of time trying to dial it in. Here are the setting that I'm settled on. Might save you some time. Presence 5:00 Bass 8:00 Middle 7:00 Treble 6 - 7:00 Output Master 7 - 8:00 Lead Master turn up to taste. In the house, I'm about 2 Rhythm I don't use this switch Input Gain 5 - 6:00 I play through a LP R8 and a 60's player's Strat with the Custome Shop 69 PU's. Signal path is: Boss TU Cry Baby Full Drive 2 to the amp Effects Loop Hardwire RV - 7 reverb Boss DD 6 Really dont need the Full Drive 2, but I like the way it throuws it over the edge. Hope this helps. I also have the 18 / 36 wat EF86. I set this amp clean and play both amps at the same time in stereo. ;D Title: Re: 2550 volume drop Post by: jimR8 on September 26, 2010, 11:02:01 PM R. Clip is off when the switch is in the up position.
I haven't tried new tubes yet. I played yesterday and the volume did not drop. Your going to love this amp. |
